【Yangmingshan National Park】

Taipei's backyard, Yangmingshan is a lush green mountain area generously endowed with hot springs, fumaroles and other signs of the local volcanic geology. The flower farms of Jhuzihhu, rolling plains of Cingtiangang, and public hot spring baths are popular attractions.

【Wulai】

Wulai, about 10 miles south of Pitan, is the most accessible area from Taipei to view the aboriginal tribesmen who once were the head hunters of Taiwan. Driving along scenic mountain road following a winding river, head to the authentic aborigine village and ride in unique push-car to the top of deep ravine. This is Wulai where aborigine girls will tell you of their lives in graceful song and dance.

Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village / Sun Moon Lake /Alishan National Scenic Area

	【Sun Moon Lake】 The Sun Moon Lake, located in the middle of Taiwan, with an elevation of 748 meters above sea level, is the only natural big lake in Taiwan. The southern part of Kuang Hua Island is shaped like a new moon, and the northern part is shaped like a sun; hence the name Sun Moon Lake.

	【Alishan National Scenic Area】 Mount Ali is very famous for the sunrise view and the cloud ocean. The clouds are so dense and thick that the mountaintops appear like islands on the cloud ocean. Mt. Ali Rail is also very famous because it is one of the three mountain rails in the world.

Meinong / Tengjhih National Forest Recreation Area / Kenting National Park / Kaohsiung City

	【Meinong】 Established in 1736, Meinong has well preserved its traditional Hakka culture and old-world ambiance over the years. The township is well known for its artistic oilpaper umbrellas and Hakka cuisine, from flat noodles and pig's feet and stewed winter melon to wild lotus and stir-fried pork intestines with shredded ginger.

	【Tengjhih National Forest Recreation Area】 This subtropical forest area is situated deep in the mountains of southern Taiwan. Planted Taiwan cryptomeria and mixed stands of common cryptomeria and natural broadleaf trees are the dominant species here. The forest also provides an excellent habitat for an array of plant and wildlife species, making this a good spot for birding, butterfly watching and other natural explorations. Hiking trails, waterfalls and lovely sunrise views further add to the forest's attraction.

	【Taroko Gorge】 Taroko Gorge is a spectacular sight. Created by tectonic movement and erosion by the LiwuRiver, the marble gorge rises high and close, embodying nature in all its power. There are several scenic sites here, including the engineering marvel of the highway itself.

	Sansiantai is a promontory that separated from the coast by sea erosion. The geology here is composed of volcanic agglomerates from DuluanMountain. The surrounding water is a magnet for fish, making this a popular diving and angling spot. The name, which means "Three Immortals Terrace," is a reference to three large boulders here, said to represent the celestials Lu Tung-pin, He Sian-ku and Li Tie-kuai.
